Digital photo frame with calendar: events and reminders on Android
Most digital photo frames show photos. A frame mounted in a kitchen or hallway that also shows your schedule turns it into a useful household display. Fravora includes an in-app calendar as a PRO feature โ accessible by tapping the clock overlay on the frame screen โ with event creation, recurrence, and reminder alerts that show as a coloured glow on the frame border.
How the calendar is accessed
The calendar is not a separate app or screen โ it lives behind the clock overlay. While the slideshow is running, tapping the clock or date widget opens a full-screen monthly calendar view without interrupting the photos. Closing the calendar returns to the slideshow exactly where it left off.
This design means the frame stays focused on photos during normal viewing, but the calendar is one tap away whenever you need to check or add something.
What the calendar includes
- Monthly view: Swipe left and right to move between months. Days with events are marked
- Day view: Tap a day to see its events; swipe within the visible date range to move between days
- Event creation and editing: Add events with a title, date, time range, and all-day toggle
- Recurrence: Monthly-by-weekday recurrence with edit scopes โ this occurrence, this and following, or the whole series
- Per-event reminders: Choose a digest reminder, 1-hour reminder, or 15-minute reminder for each event
- Multi-select delete: Long-press a day to enter selection mode for bulk deletion
- Week start preference: The monthly grid respects your configured first day of week
How reminders appear on the frame
Reminders surface as a visual glow on the frame border, keeping the display ambient rather than intrusive:
- Yellow glow: The event is within 1 hour. The glow is subtle โ you notice it when you glance at the frame without it being disruptive
- Orange glow + sound: The event is within 15 minutes. The glow is more active and repeating sound alerts play. A reminder summary dialog appears on screen with Snooze, Dismiss, Delete, and Close options
- Daily digests: Upcoming events are grouped into a morning digest (09:00) and an evening digest (21:00) so you see what is coming without individual notifications for every item
Setup
The calendar is available as part of PRO. After completing the first-launch onboarding and activating PRO:
- Ensure the clock overlay is enabled in Settings โ Overlays
- While the slideshow is running, tap the clock or date display on the frame
- The full-screen calendar opens. Tap any day to add an event
Best use cases for a frame calendar
Kitchen display: A frame mounted at eye level in the kitchen is the natural place to check the day's schedule while making coffee. Events added here are visible to the whole household without needing to open a phone app.
Family events and birthdays: Add recurring annual reminders for birthdays and anniversaries. The glow reminder appears on the frame the morning before, then again 15 minutes before โ visible to anyone who walks past.
Medication and routines: Recurring daily events with reminders use the same glow system, making the frame a subtle reminder display that does not require interaction to notice.
Note on sync: The calendar is standalone within Fravora and does not sync with Google Calendar, Apple Calendar, or other external calendar services. Events are created and managed inside the app.
